TUTORING SERVICES
At Developmental Tutoring, we provide specialised one-on-one tutoring and developmental learning support for pre-primary and primary-aged children — especially those who learn differently, including neurodivergent learners.
We tailor every session to the individual child: how they learn, how they regulate, and how they engage, not just what content they need to cover. This means we support children through confidence-building, regulation strategies, task breakdowns, and step-by-step learning that works for their brain and behaviour.
Sessions are conducted at our office, your child’s school, or their day-care centre, in environments designed to maximise focus, engagement, and success.
Who We Support
Our tutoring is designed for children who learn differently, including neurodivergent learners. These children may experience challenges such as:
Difficulty concentrating or maintaining focus
Becoming easily distracted or distracting others
Avoiding tasks or schoolwork that feel overwhelming
Trying hard but not seeing expected results
Struggling to retain information or follow multi-step directions
Finding numbers, reading, writing, or spelling challenging
Fatiguing quickly or showing low stamina
Difficulties with listening, participation, or confidence
Our approach supports children in overcoming these challenges while building skills, independence, and self-belief.
Areas We Support
Our tutoring supports children across a wide range of learning and developmental areas, including:
Reading Skills – from phonics and decoding foundations to fluent, confident reading
Reading Comprehension – understanding and applying meaning from text
Writing Skills – from letter formation to sentence building and structured storytelling
Numeracy – building confidence and understanding in practical maths skills
Fine, Gross, & Oral Motor Skills – developing coordination, strength, and control
Play & Social Skills – turn-taking, collaboration, and engagement
Daily Living & Independence – routines, self-help, and organisational skills
Behaviour & Communication – supporting appropriate behaviours, reducing repetition, improving non-compliance, and enhancing communication skills
Initial Session
The initial session focuses on observing your child’s current skills through informal skill checks and guided learning activities. This helps identify strengths and any gaps in foundational skills so support can be tailored appropriately. Learning then focuses on repetition and practice to build accuracy, confidence and fluency over time.
Our Approach
At Developmental Tutoring, we use evidence-based methods and materials shown by research to accelerate learning and support children’s development — academically, socially, and behaviourally. Our approach benefits all children, not just those with a formal diagnosis.
Some of the teaching methods we use include:
Pivotal Response Teaching
Natural Environment Teaching
Incidental Teaching
Verbal Behavioural Teaching
Discrete Trial Training
Fluency-Based Instruction
Direct Instruction
Every program is personalised, data-driven, and carefully recorded. We regularly assess your child’s progress to ensure they are developing skills, confidence, and independence every step of the way.
Our goal is to support each child in reaching their potential through structured, step-by-step learning that works for how they learn best.
